Have you ever had something happen that you just knew wasn’t a coincidence? A moment so perfectly timed or so unexplainably comforting that you felt like something bigger than you was watching over you?

I feel incredibly blessed and humbled to have had so many of these moments now that I’m aware of my spirit guides and angelic support. They no longer feel random to me—they feel like divine guidance. This morning, I found myself thinking about two experiences that really stood out, especially from the early days of my spiritual awakening.

The Voice That Saved Me

I was driving to my weekly meditation class, cruising down the I-4 corridor in Central Florida in my yellow Jeep, going a decent speed in the left lane. It was a normal day—until I heard it. Clear as if someone was sitting right next to me, a voice said: Slow down and get in the right lane. Now, I was surrounded by cars, but I wasn’t going to question this, I didn’t hesitate—I just listened. I merged over and slowed down.

The second I did, my back right tire blew out.

If I had stayed in the left lane, I wouldn’t have had anywhere to pull over, and at that speed, I don’t even want to think about how bad it could have been. Instead, I was able to safely get to the shoulder and call for help. To this day, I know without a doubt that it was angelic support. In that moment, nothing else mattered—it was love, it was protection, and it was a divine intervention that kept me safe. I’ll never forget it. EVER!

My First Introduction to Spirit Guides

Not too long before that day, I wouldn’t have even known what a spirit guide was. I remember sitting in a meditation group one Saturday when someone casually mentioned spirit guides. I thought, Ooh, I want one of those! (It still makes me laugh when I think about it.) Little did I know, I already had them—and had always had them.

A few weeks later, I found myself talking to a friend during meditation. I was feeling so lost—going through a divorce, surrounded by toxic people at work—and I shared that it felt like I was standing in the middle of a field, surrounded by trees, with no path ahead of me to show the way. That day, as I cleared my mind in meditation, I felt a presence around me. And just like that moment in the car, I heard a voice as though someone was standing right next to me. This time, it was a powerful female voice, full of conviction, shouting, “You are not standing in a field with no path before you. You are a powerful, strong woman.”

I burst into tears. This was my first encounter with my spirit guide, Rose, whose voice came through with the commanding tone of a southern Black woman who wasn’t about to let me doubt myself for one more minute. I had no idea what was happening at the time, but the medium who ran the group confirmed that I had met one of my guides. I was in awe—blown away and honestly, I couldn’t believe what was happening to me.

Rose stayed with me for years, guiding me through my divorce, offering moments of laughter, channeled messages, and wisdom beyond anything I could have imagined.

As my connection with spirit deepened, I began to understand that we all come into this life with spirit guides. These guides aren’t just random energies floating around; they are souls who have lived human lives, who understand our struggles, lessons, and journeys.

Some guides stay with us from birth to passing, always by our side, ensuring we are never truly alone. Others, like Rose, come in for specific chapters of our lives, helping us learn, grow, and navigate challenges..

How to Connect with Your Spirit Guides

People always ask me, How do I get to know my spirit guides? Do they have names? The best way to start? Ask for a sign, Ask for a name!

Asking for a sign. Pick something specific—something you wouldn’t normally see every day. One time, I asked my guides for a blue feather (because it was different—how often do you see a blue feather? For me, never) as confirmation for something in my life. Days passed, and honestly, I kind of forgot about it

Then, one random day, I was walking through HomeGoods, turned a corner, and there it was—a massive painting of a blue feather, leaning against an aisle. I just knew. You could call it a coincidence, or say it wasn’t a literal blue feather, but that’s not how the spirit world works. Your sign might show up on a canvas shopping bag, a billboard, a T-shirt design—anywhere. It’s not about where it appears; it’s about trusting that it was meant for you to see.

And don’t go searching for it! Your guides will send it in divine timing—always when you least expect it. Let it go, and trust.

As for their names, I’ve learned that it’s not as important as we think. If you believe in past lives, in infinite souls, then you know we’ve all had many names. But if you feel drawn to knowing one, sit quietly, ask, and trust the first name that comes to you. It may not seem like a big revelation in the moment, but trust that it was meant for you to hear.

Spirit Guides vs. Angels—Is There a Difference?

For me, they feel like one and the same in many ways, because of their love and support, but there is a difference.

Spirit guides have lived human lives before—they get what it means to struggle, to feel, to grow. They’re like wise teachers, nudging us in the right direction.

Angels, on the other hand, have never been human. They are divine beings of pure love and protection. Their energy feels bigger, more celestial, like a warm, unconditional embrace from the universe itself.

But no matter who steps in to help, the message is the same: You are never alone.

Trust That You Are Guided

The more you open yourself up to your guides, the more you’ll start noticing the signs. It might be a whisper of intuition, a perfectly timed message, or an unexplainable feeling of being safe and supported.

So, if you’ve ever had one of those moments—where you just knew something bigger was at play—I’d love to hear about it. Share your story in the comments below!
